As used in commercial shipping this highly effective product is used for cleaning bilges and engines.

But how can a product used to clean oil be biodegradable?? An obvious question:

....Firstly, as it cleans the oil and hydrocarbon pollutants it does not add to the overall pollutant as a solvent would.

.…Secondly if left long enough it would eventually effectively breakdown the hydrocarbons using bacteria and enzymes known to eat hydrocarbon.
